Since 1988, Democratic candidates have won New York State in each Presidential Election.
Because of the state’s long ‘blue’ history, our 28 electoral votes are not typically considered to be ‘up for grabs.’
In the 2020 election, 67.57% of Westchester county voted for President Joe Biden according to CNN.
This year, Westchester County will presumably vote for the Democratic Nominee Vice President Kamala Harris as opposed to Former President Donald Trump.
To determine if the sentiment at Mamaroneck High School correlates with our region, The Globe set out to survey students from across MHS to see how they
would vote.
The survey concluded that 87.5% of Mamaroneck High School students would vote for Harris while only 11.9% stated that they would vote for Trump.
However, when asked who they thought would realistically emerge victorious come November 5th, 53.7% of students said that Trump would win while only 43.9% believed in a Harris victory.
It is also important to note that most students are under 18 and are therefore unable to vote. Of those surveyed, 97.6% will not be voting in this high stakes, historic election.
