Located on Mamaroneck Avenue, Studio 50 is a fitness studio that has been gaining popularity among Mamaroneck High School students. Offering a range of heated classes—such as Scorch High Intensity Interval Training (HIIT), Hot Barre, Hot Yoga, and Lagree Fitness—the studio caters to various fitness levels while maintaining temperatures between 97° and 102°F in their classes. The use of infrared heating, a growing trend in the fitness world, is believed to enhance flexibility, aid muscle recovery, boost immune function, and promote detoxification through sweat. The benefits of the studio’s workouts have recently caught the attention of the MHS student body.
Lila Graham (’25), an instructor at Studio 50 and a fitness enthusiast, attributes this spike to the “enjoyable yet challenging” experience the studio offers. “It is an incredible place where you can go to sweat out the day and feel great about yourself,” Graham reflects.
Graham first began taking classes at Studio 50 as a junior in high school. While she was eager to become more active, she struggled to find a gym or studio that felt both motivational and enjoyable. That changed after her first Scorch HIIT class.
“I fell in love with it,” Graham says. “I walked out of my first Hot HIIT class with a beaming smile knowing this was the place for me.”
Graham loves the fitness component of her workout but attributes much of her success and enjoyment to the vibrant and welcoming community that Studio 50 cultivates. “Everyone at Studio50 is there to enjoy a challenging workout and a fun time which keeps the energy flowing and the positivity high, making it such an enjoyable experience and bonding opportunity,” she says.
As Graham took more classes and became more experienced, she was offered a job opportunity: to be an instructor at Studio 50. After completing an extensive training course and mentorship program, she created her own class that she teaches every Friday afternoon and became officially certified.
As an instructor, Graham is able to share her love of fitness at Studio 50 with others in the community. “Every class I’ve taken, every person I’ve met, every relationship I’ve built, and the person I’ve become both mentally and physically, I have the studio to thank. Everytime I walk into the studio, I feel valued and capable of making a difference,” Graham says. “I wanted to be the one to make others feel that way.”
Graham is not alone in her love for Studio 50; the studio has drastically increased in popularity amongst the MHS community as more students try a class and bring along their friends. Graham even recalls how she has “overheard people in the hallway talking about how excited they are for their class [at Studio 50] that night or how hard they worked the night before.”
Max Szcuhman (’25) is one of the many who has become enamored with Studio 50’s Scorch HIIT program. After trying one of Graham’s classes, he immediately wanted to come back for more.
“I love feeling like I am using different muscles and getting a really amazing workout in,” says Szuchman. “And I love the community there. It is a space for people of all different workout levels to come together and try new things and get into amazing shape. I haven’t talked to anyone who has ever had anything bad to say about it!”
Szuchman anticipates the studio becoming even more popular than it currently is, as word of mouth continues to spread positive reviews. Studio 50 is quickly becoming a cornerstone of the local fitness community where students can achieve both physical and mental wellness.
