Located at 1252 W Boston Post Rd, Larchmont, NY 10538, Espresso Cafeto is loved by many Mamaroneck residents.
Whether you’re an MHS student escaping your millions of assignments, a teacher taking a much needed break to caffeinate, or just a customer stopping in for a delicious treat, Cafeto is a place of joy and laughter, all thanks to its owner, Valentina Soto.
Soto began her career in environmental graphic design, working at an architecture firm.
However, after becoming pregnant, she decided to start her own business. She opened a café in Hoboken, NJ, following in the footsteps of her entrepreneurial family in Colombia. After spending time in Brazil, Soto returned to the U.S. and eventually settled in Mamaroneck.
From 2012, she had her eyes on Cafeto’s location but it wasn’t until 2017 that she finally secured the space and opened the cafe Mamaroneck knows and loves.
Cafeto is an inviting place where many people come together to socialize, work, relax, and have exceptionally delicious food and coffee. Soto was inspired by the diverse community in Mamaroneck when she created her menu.
She says, “My best friends are not all from the US, my kids have friends who are not from the US and some who are, so I wanted to represent everybody because I’m Colombian and everybody said ‘ …I want it to be a place for everybody.’ That’s why we have foods that try to reprepresent a little bit of everybody.”
Cafeto was built off a dream of being a welcoming place for people of many different backgrounds. Soto continues, stating how “a place where everyone feels at home, that’s what I wanted.”
Soto’s favorite part of running Cafeto is the interactions with customers that she and her team have: “It feels like a constant conversation and I love it; to me that’s the best, when people come in here and look happy.”
Though she says it can be a challenge, she also says it’s well worth it to see the happiness those precious and joyful interactions bring her customers.
The labor of love that Soto and her team pour into it certainly pays off for many customers who adore Cafeto.
Lana Roche-Mair (‘28) professes her appreciation for the cafe, noting how she has been visiting since 6th grade.
She described Cafeto to be “a safe space where I’ve been able to escape from life since I started middle school.”
Roche-Mair says that from the moment she first stepped into Cafeto she felt at home, and ever since she’s been there constantly. Whenever she has a free moment she loves to stop by Cafeto, get her go-to order, and relax.
Just steps away from Mamaroneck High School, Espresso Cafeto is the ideal breakfast, coffee, and lunch spot for anyone who wants to enjoy delicious treats while supporting a local business!
