The Grand Opening of Millie’s Provisions

A new cafe and market brings fresh food options and a community space to Larchmont
The Grand Opening of Millie’s Provisions

Living in a small town can make finding varied food options difficult. However, the grand opening of Millie’s Provisions, located on Palmer Avenue, has recently caused a lot of excitement within the Larchmont-Mamaroneck community. Millie’s grand opening was on April 19, 2026, and since then, the cafe has continued to be packed with customers. The cafe is co-owned by husband and wife Zachary and Marteal Mayer, who moved to Larchmont in 2024. Millie’s offers a wide range of food including salads, sandwiches, pastries, smoothies and coffee. In addition to an eatery, the cafe includes a market which offers artisanal products and fresh produce, as well as everyday groceries.

The Mayers moved to Larchmont about a year and a half ago, and Marteal said, “We have always wanted to open our own place one day.” The inspiration for Millie’s came after the couple moved to Larchmont and quickly realized that there was no store located near the train station to grab groceries or other necessities before or after work. With that in mind, the couple created a space that combines convenience with  a social atmosphere. Marteal added, “This town is so tight-knit and community focused, so we also imagined a sort of meeting place that was social and communal as well!”

Zachary Mayer, the head chef of the cafe, is self-taught and has over 15 years of experience. Mayer began his culinary journey working in several Brooklyn restaurants before running his own catering company, where he managed large-scale events. After a few years as a caterer, he took another big step and opened Millie’s.

Marteal Mayer is in charge of marketing, communications and design. Marteal noted that she had the vision for the dining at Millie’s to feel extremely comforting, as well as social. She said, “We wanted it to feel like you’re in your grandma’s kitchen, having a home cooked meal.” To achieve this goal, Millie’s has an open seating layout, making the atmosphere feel more social and comforting.

Millie’s Provisions has already managed to make a positive impact on Mamaroneck High School students. Christina Von Albertini Mason (’27) described the setup of the cafe as “very aesthetically pleasing,” and she noted that “the cafe was filled with customers.”

Lizzie Cabrera (‘27), an avid coffee drinker, stated, “The iced vanilla latte was the best coffee I have ever had.”

Social media has played a significant role in the promotion of the cafe. Cosette Ammon (’27) said, “I discovered Millie’s through a food review that popped up on my TikTok For You page with over 1,000 likes.” The online exposure not only contributes to the popularity of Millie’s food reviews, but also draws in a variety of customers from outside the Larchmont-Mamaroneck community.

By expanding food options in the community and providing a unique dining experience, Millie’s Provisions continues to foster a welcoming environment as it grows in popularity and appreciation.
