Mara Hersh:
With 22 years of dedicated service at Mamaroneck High School, Ms. Mara Hersh is retiring at the end of the 2026-2027 school year. For Hersh, a graduate of MHS, the community has always held a special place in her heart. After graduating from MHS, Ms. Hersh did not stay away for long, returning to begin her career while in graduate school. Throughout her 32 years in education, she has had the opportunity to work in many different special education roles. She began her career at MHS in the Transition Academy Program before teaching Skills classes and Resource Room. She later co-taught Geometry, Algebra, Chemistry, and Biology, and for the past ten years has taught in the Emotional Support Program. Ms. Hersh has been able to positively impact countless students in various settings. For Ms. Hersh, the favorite part of her job has always been the people. She recounts how fortunate she is to have worked with incredible students and dedicated staff over the years at Mamaroneck High School. As Ms. Hersh embarks on this new chapter, she looks forward to spending her time doing the things she loves, including traveling, reading, gardening, and, of course, spending time with her family. We thank Ms. Hersh for all that she has brought to this community and wish her the best of luck in retirement.
Cathryn Quackenbush:
Ms. Cathryn Quackenbush is retiring from her position as a counselor after 20 years of dedicated service to Mamaroneck High School. Ms. Quackenbush started her career at MHS in 1996 as a counselor and left in 2004 to work at another school in Northern Westchester. However, Ms. Quackenbush returned to MHS in 2014, becoming the Department Chair of the Counseling Department. Her favorite part of the job has been working with students and their families, as well as collaborating with her colleagues to help students find success. In retirement, Ms. Quackenbush looks forward to tackling home projects, volunteering at dog shelters, and spending quality time with her family. We are so incredibly grateful for all that Ms. Quackenbush has done for Mamaroneck High School, and we wish her well in retirement.
Francine Talt:
Ms. Francine Talt is retiring from her position as a teaching assistant for the Transition Academy Program. She has spent the last 21 years working in the Mamaroneck School District, starting at Murray Ave and Hommocks before serving at MHS for the last 13 years. Ms. Talt, as well as her two daughters, are also graduates of Mamaroneck High School. Her favorite and most rewarding part of her job has been working with students, encouraging their learning, helping them develop vocational skills, and cheering them on as they work toward their personal goals. In retirement, Ms. Talt is looking forward to having time to read more books, cook, bake, and travel. She also looks forward to training for and running in her first half-marathon this fall. We greatly appreciate all that Ms. Talt has contributed not only to Mamaroneck High School, but to the entire Mamaroneck School District, and wish her well in retirement.
Kimberly Omoloju:
Mrs. Kimberly Omoloju is retiring after eight years of dedicated service as a school counselor in the MHS Connections Program. Since joining Mamaroneck High School in the fall of 2018, she has worked closely with students, helping them navigate their high school experience and take advantage of the many opportunities available at MHS. One of Ms. Omoloju’s favorite things about MHS is the wide range of resources and activities offered to students. She is passionate about encouraging students to get involved and make the most of their time at school. As she shared, her last name, Omoloju, translates from Yoruba to English as “Children are the greatest,” a sentiment that reflects her dedication to the students she has served. Over the years, Ms. Omoloju has experienced many meaningful moments at MHS. Among her favorites are collaborating with colleagues and students on memorable MLK Assemblies and celebrating students’ accomplishments at graduation. Although she is retiring from MHS, Ms. Omoloju plans to continue working with students in Connecticut, bringing the same passion and commitment that she has shown throughout her time at MHS. We are incredibly grateful for Ms. Omoloju’s contributions to Mamaroneck High School and wish her all the best in this exciting new chapter.
